How to Use the File Block on UniLink

The File Block is a UniLink block that lets you offer downloadable files directly from your page, making it easy to share PDFs, guides, templates, and other digital resources with your audience.

What is the File Block?

The File Block turns your UniLink page into a distribution hub for digital content. Whether you are sharing a free eBook to grow your email list, a client onboarding packet, a music track, a design template, or a press kit, the File Block lets visitors download your file with a single tap. It supports a wide range of file types and can be configured for open access or gated downloads — where visitors provide their email before receiving the file.

How to Add the File Block

  1. Log in to your UniLink Dashboard
  2. Open your page editor
  3. Click Add Block (+)
  4. Select File

Configuration Options

  • File Upload — Upload the file directly to UniLink or provide a hosted file URL from Google Drive, Dropbox, or any cloud storage service.
  • File Title — Give the download a descriptive name so visitors know exactly what they are getting before they click.
  • Description — Add a brief summary of the file's contents to increase download rates by setting clear expectations.
  • Button Label — Customize the download button text, such as "Download Free Guide," "Get the Template," or "Save the PDF."
  • Email Gate — Optionally require visitors to enter their email address before accessing the download, turning free content into a lead generation tool.
  • File Preview — Show a thumbnail or preview image of the file to make the block more visually engaging and reinforce the value of the download.

Best Practices

  • Use a benefit-driven file title and button label — "Download the 10-Step Launch Checklist" outperforms "Download File" every time.
  • If you gate the download behind an email, make sure the content genuinely delivers value — underwhelming freebies damage trust and increase unsubscribes.
  • Pair a free File Block download with a paid product or service link below it to convert newly interested visitors into customers while your content is fresh in their mind.
